Outdoor Pool / Lido

Outdoor pool with swimmers

Formerly known as Uxbridge Lido, the Grade II-listed, 50m, open-air swimming pool was reopened in 2010 as is now one of the best lidos in the country. The outdoor pool has been restored to its 1930s glory, complete with cascades (fountains) at both ends and a new heated shallow splash pool for children.

The outdoor pool is now open for the season through to the autumn full details of times and sessions are available on the live pool timetable (see the Timetable & Downloads section) 

 

When there is a great weather forecast don’t get stuck in traffic going to the beach come and cool off in your local Lido.

How to Register
In order to use book your sessions all new users will be required to register and sign in.
 
Once registered you'll be able to use our online bookings system. 

New users

Click our book online info box on the home page, if a member add your membership ID and PIN
If you are a non-member click “Sign up now”

Step 3
Select the centre you wish to book a product for and press next

Step 4
Enter all your details and click next

Step 5
Check your email (including your spam inbox) and click on the link in the email where you'll be taken to a password page. 
Click your email link and set your own 4-digit PIN number
You can then log in as a user and book and pay for your sessions
 
 
 
 
 
 

Off season - Cold Water Swimming Tips
 

Benefits of cold water swimming

• Boosts your immune system

• Gets your blood pumping

• Burns calories

• Stress relief

• Promotes well being

 

Before you swim (New to cold water swimming)

• Medical conditions – If you have any please  speak  to a member of our  team

• Inform the lifeguards - They will be able to offer advice

• Do not jump or dive straight in - enter the water slowly at the  shallow end  and allow your body to adjust to the  temperature

• Please exercise caution when the water temperature is less than  12oC as there is risk of SIS (Sudden Immersion Syndrome). Seek medical/specialist advice regarding cold water swimming

 

What to wear

• Wetsuits are recommended when water temperatures are below 15 degrees

• Neoprene gloves and socks

• Silicone hats

 

After your swim

• Warm up gradually – a quick warm shower is recommended

• Warm drink – warm up in the café with a coffee or tea

• Extra clothing - bring plenty of layers to put on following your swim including hat, coat, gloves and thick socks

• Don’t overdo it – gradually increase the distance you want to swim

• Ask for help – If you feel at all unwell following your swim please speak to a member of staff
